Town Clerk FAQ

Where do you get a dog license?
Dog licenses are obtained from the Town Clerk in the municipality where you reside. They can be obtained in person or by regular mail. We hope to have an online option available in the future. Click here for more details

Is there a Senior Discount for the purchase of a dog license?
Yes. If your dog has been spayed or neutered the fee is $3.50. If the dog have not been altered the fee is $11.50. This is a reduction of $5.50. Please request the discount and provide your driver’s license. Once you are in the dog licensing system as a Senior you will not need to bring proof of your age each time you renew the dog’s license.

Can someone else pick up an Accessibility Permit (Handicap Permit) for me?
Yes. If you are unable to come in yourself, a family member or friend can do it for you. They must bring the medical paperwork from the doctor, filled out, dated and signed by you (the applicant); and have your driver’s license or a NYS non-driver ID.

Receiver of Taxes FAQ

Where do I mail my tax bill and what portion of the bill is to be returned?
The entire tax bills can be mailed to Carrie Webster, Receiver of Taxes, Town of Parma, 1300 Hilton Parma Road, P.O. Box 728, Hilton, NY 14468. The Town retains the stubs and a paid receipt is returned to property owner. NOTE: 2nd & 3rd installments of school tax bills are payable to and mailed to the Monroe County Treasury, 39 W. Main Street, COB B-2, Rochester, NY 14614.

Does the Town Accept Credit/Debit Card Payment for Taxes?
Yes, credit card payments are accepted only for Full and Installment payments via the Internet; a 3% fee is charged. For credit card payments, go to the website www.monroecounty.gov and select "view/pay taxes online". Then follow the prompts to retrieve your account information and make payment. You can also select it under Get It Done Online on the Home page of the Town of Parma website.

Town and County, and School Tax Checks Should be Made Payable to Whom?

The Previous Owner received the Bill And Has Moved, the Bill Belongs to the New Owner. What Should I Do?
Either return the bill to Carrie Webster with the new owner's name or forward the bill directly to the new owner. This is likely due to a timing issue for when changes could be made and when the property changed hands. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

The Bill Was Sent to the Property Owner When They Have an Escrow Account with the Bank That Pays Their Taxes?
Mail or take the bill to the bank that holds your escrow.

How Do I Get My Address Changed on My Tax Bill?
Contact the Assessor's Office

What If I Did Not Receive My Tax Bill?
Do you have an escrow account with your bank? If yes, they receive the bill and you are mailed only a receipt. If your taxes are not paid by your bank through an escrow account, contact Receiver of Taxes. NOTE: Under New York State Real Property Law you are responsible whether you receive the bill or not.

What Do I Do in the Event of a Name Change (Death, Marriage, etc.)?
Bring legal document (death certificate, marriage license) to the Assessor's Office at the Town Hall so that the records may be changed.

Did I receive my exemption (Veterans, Senior, STAR)?
Exemptions will be noted on your bill under "Exemption". Questions regarding exemptions should be directed to the Assessor’s Office.

What is an Exemption Removal?
Term used when the current owner benefits from an exemption that the previous owner received. The new owner may not be entitled to this exemption, with the new "assessment year" the exemption is removed. The exemption removal amount is determined by the Assessor's Office and is a one-time charge for the prior reduction given and not entitled.

Recreation FAQ

How do I register for a program online?
You must click Register Online under the “Program Registration” tab on the Parks and Recreation Page, Recreation Programs under “Get it done Online” on any page or by going to https://secure.rec1.com/NY/hilton-parma-recreation/. From there you must set up a user account or log in to your user account to register for programs.

When does Summer Camp/Summer Playground Registration open?
Summer Camp/Summer Playground Registration opens near the end of April or beginning of May.

When do you take applications for Summer Camp Staff?
We will accept applications year round and will begin the application reviewing process in March of every year offering interviews in April.

Parks Department FAQ

How do I go about renting a park pavilion or the VFW Lodge?
Call the Town Clerk’s Office for availability at 392-9461, dial 0 to speak to someone. If the date is available you must go into to the Town Clerk’s Office to fill out a permit and submit payment.

What amenities are there in Parma Town Park?
Parma Town Park has two playgrounds, two basketball courts, a skate park, two sand volleyball courts, two Bocce courts, four tennis courts, a football field, soccer fields, eight baseball/softball fields, hiking trails, a disc golf course, four pavilions (available for rental), a fishing pond, areas to sit, and plenty of green space.
