Additional resources and information for residents who have been affected by flooding

  • LAKEFRONT PROPERTY OWNERS - Lake Ontario Residential Recovery Program - Supervisor Jim Smith would like to remind all water front residents in the Town of Parma who have not yet submitted applications for the Lake Ontario Residential Recovery Program that the submission deadline is Friday, September 29th at 5:00pm.

    You may submit the application online at sheenhousing.org or mail it to Sheen Housing, P.O. Box 460, Bloomfield, New York 14469. Applications being mailed in should be postmarked through the 29th.

    Please see below for information regarding the Lake Ontario Residential Recovery Program Application.
    If You Have Not Yet Applied:

    • It is not necessary to have supporting documentation available to apply.
    • To be eligible, you must submit the application with just your basic information by 5:00pm on September 29th, even if you do not yet have estimates or other supporting documentation.
    • Your supporting documentation and additional information will be accepted after the deadline if you application is submitted by the deadline.

  • Lake Ontario Home Owners – Potential New York State Aid - The State is formulating a Home Owner Recovery program through a program called Homes and Community Renew. The program will be managed at the local level by not-for-profit organizations. For Monroe County residents the organization will be Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation, Inc.. Home owners can request an application at sheen2@rochester.rr.org or by calling 657-4114. More information.

    NYS Emergency Response Mobile Command Centers to Assist Flood Victims with Both Environmental Permitting and Insurance Claims on Lake Ontario at Parma Town Hall

    Who: New York State will be deploying Emergency Response Mobile Command Centers with officials from the Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, and the Department of Financial Services. DEC officials will provide on-site permitting and work with property owners to address erosion, offer technical guidance and provide on-site emergency permitting to residents. This DEC assistance will augment the insurance help already being provided by the Department of Financial Services insurance help available to residents affected by the flooding. In addition, those who are not able to visit the Mobile Command Centers can call the Department's Disaster Hotline at 1-800-339-1759, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. for help with insurance-related issues.

    When: August 8, 2017 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Updated 8/1/17) and The Emergency Mobile Unit is scheduled to be at the Parma Town Hall on various days throughout the summer. (Updated 7/19/17)

    LAKE ONTARIO FLOOD ASSISTANCE HOTLINE – 866-244-3839 - This is the main number to call for questions you may have.

    The New York Sea Grant has awarded funds for Cornell University to do a survey of residents/property owners on the impact of the flooding. Survey Details - 2017 LAKE ONTARIO WATER LEVEL IMPACT SURVEY

     

  • POTENTIAL GRANT FUNDING - The New York State Senate has passed a bill that would make grants available to people impacted by flooding. The New York State Assembly is also working on a bill. Once a final bill is approved it will go to the Governor for signature. As soon as there is additional information we will post it here.

  • Lake Shore Property Owners: If this property is your primary residence you may be eligible for aid from the State of New York. This aid will potentially help cover some of the cost of repairs. The State is still working out the details on what organization will manage the program at the local level. They do recommend that people register in advance so they get a better idea of what areas are hardest hit.   • Sand and Filled Sand Bags - are available for residents affected by Lake Ontario flooding. Please call the Highway Department – 392-9464 and leave a message or the Parma Town Hall – 392-9461 and be prepared to leave your name, address, a phone number you can easily be reached at and the number of filled sand bags that you need. If you have your own bags and only need sand, indicate that as well.

  • The Governor has launched a Lake Ontario Flood Assistance Hotline to provide the latest information to residents affected in their community at 866-244-3839. Residents can call the hotline for the latest flooding forecast, help with flood mitigation measures like sandbags, or for technical assistance regarding on-site repairs.

  • Access to East Wautoma Beach/Delavergne Drive continues to be Local Access Only due to the flooding at the east end of the road.
