Parma Special Police

The Parma Special Police was organized in 1962. It is funded by the Town of Parma to assist the community during public events and emergencies. The Parma Special Police is a volunteer organization. Individuals join to provide a community service and to learn police techniques. Active members receive a great deal of pride and personal satisfaction from involvement with the Special Police.

The primary function of the Parma Special Police is to assist local agencies, community organizations, the Town of Parma and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department with traffic control and security during public events.

The Parma Special Police receives training that is consistent with the needs of the community, in addition to preparation for declared emergencies.

Officers receive mandatory training from the Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility. Additional, in-service training is performed throughout the year including First Aid/CPR, conflict management and defensive tactics.
